IKS Drahkos

STO Facts:
The Drahkos is a Varanus-class Support Vessel; a type of science vessel that is purchasable through Cyrptic’s C-Store and is available to Klingon players once they reach the rank of Brigadier General. While the ship is used by Klingon characters, story-wise it is actually originates from the Gorn, with their ships having been absorbed into the Klingon fleet after the fall of the Gorn Hegemony. The Varanus is one of three Gorn ships designed by Cryptic, as Gorn ships were never seen all that clearly in the Star Trek TV series; the re-mastered TOS episode “Arena” is the only time a Gorn ship is even seen, and even then it’s little more than a smudge on the Enterprise’s viewscreen. It comes with a fairly standard equipment and weapons layout for an Admiral/General tier level science vessel (comparable to the Deep Space Science Vessels on the Federation side), but includes the ability to launch up to five repair platforms that will heal you and/or any nearby allies. I bought the current Drahkos when the repair platform was still an ability unique to the Varanus rather than a console that could be transferred for use on any ship, so I can deploy the platforms without needing the console. The Drahkos is armed with disruptor weapons, tricobalt torpedoes and tricobalt mines.

The name Drahkos is a play on the word “dragon;” rather fitting for a Gorn character.
